Why is my jewelry tarnishing?
As our jewelry is made out of brass and copper, it can tarnish due to perfectly natural processes like the interaction with moisture in its environment. As a last step in the manufacturing process we are coating our jewelry to keep its shine for a longer time period; we still do recommend to keep the jewelry in a dry environment, far away from humidifiers or plants which can store moisture. Please don`t swim with your jewelry in, especially avoiding chlorine and saltwater. If your jewelry should tarnish you can usually remedy that effect by treating the piece with a polishing cloth.
With our oxidized products contact with sweat can wear off the black coating, forming highlights at the points of contact and giving the jewelry a complete unique flair.
Even though we don´t offer any guarantee or exchange due to tarnish developing, you can always contact us for further recommendations how to treat the jewelry after the fact.
Jewelry Care
To keep your jewelry shiny and sparkly for a long time, we have a few suggestions on how to keep care of them. We are recommending you to avoid the contact with water, especially chlorine and saltwater, thus to not wear them while swimming, as the jewelry can oxidate and the coating corrode. Avoid contact with beauty products such as skin lotions, make up and hairspray or similar. The jewelry should not be cleaned with classical jewelry cleaning products, household products or desinfection products as the chemicals within those can be quite harsh and lead to permanent discolorations and damages. To remove tarnish as well as prevent it, we recommend recommend a monthly, very gentle polish with a micro fiber or jewelry polishing cloth for brass once per month.
Please store your jewelry at a dry place avoiding direct contact with the sun. To avoid oxidation, keeping the jewelry separat from other pieces in a little cloth bag with silica-gel can help.
Please be careful when handling the hinges to avoid bending or breaking them. With time they may loosen up and can be gently bend back with brass jaw pliers, ideally with the help of your local piercer. Should you have the feeling that the hinges are not working as supposed please first contact us and don´t try to repair them yourself.
